“Being mean to someone when they’ve made a mistake is like jumping off the Teeter Totter when you’re at the bottom!”
I was talking to someone I work with today who had forgotten to do something which effected my workflow. It was no big deal because she did it right away and I was able to continue my work but it interrupted my work. I told her I had had a week like that where I just keep running into things that I didn’t do that effected others. I thought it wasn’t really a nice thing if I yelled at her for forgetting because I too have been in her shoes. I thought about how I’ve felt when people yell at me when I mess up and instantly I thought that it’s like someone jumped off the other end of the teeter totter when I was in the air. Abrupt, hurtful and unappreciated. There’s no need to treat people like that and strip them of dignity or even happiness. Just be nice and you’ll get a much better response.
