“laughter is the best medication for almost any bad moment. Give it, take it and enjoy it at every opportunity you can.”
I saw a Facebook post from someone I work with today and it was two little boys sharing a bottle of orange soda. I don’t think these boys had ever had soda before or anything carbonated because they were laughing their heads off as they drank it. It made me laugh and I thought about how great laughter is as an antidote to sadness or anger. When I laugh when I’m mad, somehow I’m not so mad anymore. When I’m happy and I laugh, I’m happier than I was before I laughed. When I’ve laughed when I was sad it picked my spirits up, sometimes for the better and sometimes just for a moment. Long enough for me to take a breath and move out of that negative downward spiraling vortex of hell that I spent way too much time in years ago at my lowest. Being able to take a breath from the negative is like breathing fresh air after being in a stuffy house or near someone that’s smoking. It’s invigorating and so addicting that you want more. Laughter brings such unequivocal positivity that it nullifies all the negative stuff. We should give it and take it whenever we can. Laughter can be the difference between someone making a very bad decision and deciding to stick it out.
