Lately I have been discouraged by all the bad news I see online and on the news. It’s nothing new but it just bothers me. I just keep thinking that if people could mind their own business and find happiness in their daily world that the dumb things they do will fade away to just a bad memory. I thought that if people remembered when life was simple, like when they were kids, that their outlook and attitude would be so much better.

I walked past / over/ around the items in this picture my whole life. Every day I walk I see them and every day I remember that an acorn used to be my tool for the empty can arcade. The acorn hat as I called it was my whistle before I learned to whistle really loud. The Maple Tree Seed, some people call them whirly birds and some call them Pinocchio noses because you can split one half at the bottom and its sticky resin stuck to your nose and you could run around looking silly and not caring. I however used to call them helicopters because they spun as they fell and I thought it looked graceful. Side note: Inside the green whirly bird is a maple tree seed.  It will fall to the ground and grow in the same way as the sunflower.

I thought about how much fun these simple items used to be that I now walk over every day. When I think about the days of empty can arcades, whirly birds and whistles it makes me smile. I thought how nice it would be if everyone everywhere found something in each day that brought them back to simple times when joy was found in a little empty acorn hat.
